About the position:

We are looking for a highly organized and motivated individual to assist the Extraction Director with day-to-day operations. We are currently in a developmental phase and daily responsibilities will vary outside of standard job duties. Upon completion of construction and receipt of permits, you will transition into a permanent role within the extraction department. An extraction technician has the responsibility of extracting, refining, and processing cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis plant material into a concentrated form using solvents and solventless processes. This position is based in Oakland, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Operation and maintenance of solvent and non-solvent extraction equipment that processes and refines cannabinoids from a variety of raw cannabis plant material.
  • Cleaning of equipment and laboratory facility.
  • Maintaining strict inventory records of plant materials, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Record keeping of all details pertinent to extraction processes.
  • Storing of supplies and equipment, disposal of waste, and keeping work area in pristine condition.
  • Washing and sterilization of laboratory glassware and equipment.
  • Participating in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Working collectively and respectfully with other team members.
  • Enforcing a culture of safety and attention to detail.

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year experience with various extraction techniques, in particular, hydrocarbon extraction and solvent-less techniques is highly desirable.
  • 2+ years experience working in laboratory setting or production environment.
  • Experience and background in the cannabis industry a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership both verbally and through written media.
  • Detail orientated with an eye on process improvement and optimization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to manage high-stress situations, and to be flexible and adaptable when a situation requires.
  • Must have the ability to push, pull, or lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Throughout extended periods, must be capable of sitting, squatting, standing, kneeling, bending, or walking through the workday.
  • Must be able to handle constructive criticism and guidance and offer the same to others in the department.
  • Ability to work a varying schedule including nights, weekends, and overtime as necessary.
  • Understanding of OSHA guidelines for workplace safety and hazardous chemicals.
  • Compliance and understanding of laboratory standards.

Education:

  • Minimum High School or G.E.D equivalent is required.
  • Bachelors of Science in Chemistry, Engineering, or related field is highly desirable.
