Position Summary

The Garden Hand/Pesticide applicator is responsible for general garden duties assigned daily by the Garden Manager as well as regular pesticide application.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • General garden duties/ Non Pesticide Responsibilities (transplants, staking, manicuring, cleaning, etc…).
  • Responsible for mixing and storing pesticides.
  • Responsible for proper storage and care of pesticides (no leaks, located in proper place, etc.).
  • Ensures all protective equipment is in working order before each application.
  • Follows CDA guidelines for proper use of pesticides.
  • Responsible for notifying co-workers when application will be occurring.
  • Create and maintain operational processes and organizational systems;
  • Maintain good inter-departmental communication and ensure the department is meeting company-wide priorities and policies.
  • Responsible for transplanting, harvesting, pre-harvesting and moving plants from room to room
  • Removes trash properly
  • Cleans vents, hoods and racking
  • Cleans shoes at end of each day
  • Changes into clean clothing and disposes of used scrubs properly
  • Fills mats with bleach water
  • Keep clean and safe environment for all employees
  • Moves soil bags for plant transplanting.
  • Other duties as assigned day to day.

Education / Requirements

  • High School or equivalent required
  • College degree preferred
  • Must obtain and maintain MED/KEY Badge in the state of CO
  • CDA WPS Worker and Handler training preferred

Physical Activity and Work Environment

  • Requires sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, crouching and other physical movements
  • Ability to move/lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have good vision and depth perception
  • Must work with agricultural chemicals.
  • Must be comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Comfortable with heights.
  • Work near moving mechanical parts and machines.
  • Work in wet/humid/cold/hot conditions unrelated to weather.
  • Environment with airborne particles.
  • Must be able to safely handle toxic or caustic chemicals/agents.
