Multiple locations, travel required between campusesHOURS: Days, some evenings and weekendsRESPONSIBILITIES:Manage daily library operations, including, but not limited to:Supervise Learning Commons staff, tutors and student library assistantsProvide reference services to students, faculty, and staff using electronic, print, and Internet resources. Assist students in using research tools, locating on-site and online materials, and using Office programs and student email.Manage the library locations and student access to resources and directing students most effective use of the features of the library.Support of faculty needs specific to publisher materials.Develop and maintain the physical library collection at the campuses:Identify print materials for purchaseCatalog and process new materialsWeed outdated materialsCommunicate the availability and education value of new physical and virtual library acquisitions to the market communityPlan and deliver bibliographic or similar outreach sessions, delivered as in-library workshops, classroom presentations/workshops, or individual tutorial sessions for students and, as needed, for faculty. Outreach to faculty may include market-wide in-services, campus faculty meetings, all-associates meetings, Skype, print finding aids or subject guides.Chair the market library committee.Collaborate on system-wide and market initiatives in academic library services.Participate in college-wide librarian development opportunities and initiatives, including, but not limited to, participating in the annual librarian meeting and actively serving as a member of a college-wide library sub-committee.Participate as a reference librarian in the QuestionPoint Ask a Librarian 24/7 online reference service.Keep current by reading professional publications and by participating in conferences and meetings. Share new learning with peer librarians and the market community.Maintain a positive learning environment for all students using the libraryQUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:MLIS/MLS degree from ALA-accredited programMinimum of one year of experience in an academic library setting preferred.Travel between locations required.Teaching experience or aptitude preferredPrior supervisory experience preferred.Proficiency with electronic, print, and Internet resourcesDemonstrated evidence of excellent organizational, interpersonal, speaking, and writing skillsAbility to work harmoniously with colleagues in a team settingAbility to work with a diverse student population.Ability to handle and coordinate multiple assignments in a fast paced environmentStrong aptitude for and demonstrated working knowledge of computers and their application in researchTO APPLY:Submit cover letter, resume, unofficial transcripts, and teaching philosophy during electronic application process.
