The Noa Botanicals’ Security Officer I provides for safe, secure facilities for the operation of the businessas related to the production and sale of medical cannabis. This position reports directly to the Security and Compliance Assistant Manager. The Security Officer I must maintain a professional appearance, organized work environment and appearance.

Local applicants are preferred; relocation assistance will not be provided.

Responsibilities and Duties

CORE JOB DUTIES (includes but not limited to)

Authorizing Facility Access:

  • Welcome employees and/or patients as they enter the facilities and ensure only authorized persons are granted entry.
  • Obtain the appropriate documentation, ensuring validity of identification and patient registration with the State.
  • Process authorized visitors by completing the Visitor Log and providing a visitor badge.
  • Provide education materials to persons when necessary.
  • Authorize access to the facilities after document verification.

Maintain Systems:

  • Assist in maintaining functionality of all security systems.
  • Verify functionality daily and address all system issues immediately.
  • Coordinate maintenance as needed.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned: badge making, scheduling, spreadsheet and manifest creation.

Security Threats:

  • Maintain a secure environment.
  • Provide escort throughout facilities when necessary.
  • Enforce loitering policy.
  • Ensure security and alarm systems are in good-working order always.
  • Report any emergency situations to appropriate service.
  • Remain alert and appropriately report any threat to the security of the business operation.
  • Assist in the secure transportation of assets as required.


  • Responsible for the safe transportation of all products to and from all of Mānoa Botanicals’ locations.
  • Strictly adhere to company policies and procedures as well as all traffic laws and represent Mānoa Botanicals as a courteous and safe driver.

Additional Duties as Required.

Qualifications and Skills


  • Knowledge of State of Hawai’i laws, regulations and rules related to medical marijuana.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize excellent initiative and judgement when addressing conflict and emergency situations.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Accurate data-entry and record keeping.
  • Ability to answer multi-phone line system. Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment.
  • Ability to make decisions as necessary with limited oversight when needed.
  • Proficiency in windows-based software and internet navigation.


  • Must be and remain compliant with any and all legal or company regulations for working in the cannabis industry.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year or more experience in a security role preferred.
  • Minimum of 21 years of age as required by state statute.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and personal vehicle.
  • Must have the ability to secure SOH guard card.

Must pass background checks, including fingerprints and drug screening, per applicable requirements set forth under state statute.


  • Must have reliable transportation; flexibility in scheduling. Working hours include holidays and weekends and overtime.
  • Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 50 pounds (100 pounds with assistance). This job function may include walking or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching.
  • Regular attendance, as scheduled, is required for this position.
